Tears … for fears?
P ( 4 years old) cries: I like my mum!!!
G cries: he like his mum.
Slowly slowly all the class have very wet eyes…
Me: I like my mum…(and your mums too, absolutely, in this moment, with 11 kids on the edge of the tears)…
P pass his tongue and feel the tear.
Me: -oh!!! what is the taste of a tear?
A firework exploded in the class : no one is crying anymore…
Me: what do we need for a tear?
Lets see: can we cry all together?
( all the class try to cry)
-We can’t!!!
Me: Well how we can call the tears?
-think about your mum!!!
-think about something sad!
-what is sad?( in fact…what is sad for tears in the life of a 4 years old?)
-think about monsters
Me: can we thing about something very fun, too?
maybe we can tickle until tears?
-yes!!! and we can bump in the wall, or with the chair!!!
Me: How can we do some tears?
-Water!!
-and blu!!
Me: Lets look the tears, are they blu? Lets taste the tears..
-we dont need colours.
-we need sugar
-we need salt
-we need vinegar
-I think we have to do sugar tears for the happy ones and salt for the sad ones…
our art oriented class changed to a tear-cooking-class, working for an hour in cocotions for to do the best possible tears, trying to cry for confirm the taste, creating new kind of tears.
Then, some kids began to create the recipe for happiness.:-)
You need water, colorant, flowers -access to the garden-, mortars or stones, salt, pepper sugar - access to the kitchen: cinnamon, cumin, peppers…- pipettes or droppers….and a lot of little containers to store and taste the tears: we used lego bricks upside down and plastic caps that we use as loose part. We used also some paper but liquid was absorbed, some aluminium foil, some wood…
